Rules

 
  Official Rules 2011 Regina Beach Lions Walleye Classic  
  1. Eligibility
  1. All persons 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter the Walleye Classic Tournament. Anglers under 18 must fish with a parent or guardian.
 
2. Requirements
  1. Each contestant must have in his or her possession a valid Saskatchewan fishing license.
  2. Promoters and organizations assisting in the tournament operation, their agencies and agents, are not responsible for death, injury, damage, liability, theft, fire, or any loss to any entrants. Each entrant, upon signing an accepted entry form, will in effect be signing a waiver form.
  3. Each entrant must wear an approved U.S. Coast Guard or Can. personal floatation device (PFD) for the start.
  4. Each entrant is urged to wear a PFD.
  5. All contestants are required to observe Canadian rules and regulations concerning safe boating.
3. Fishing
  1. Only Walleye will be included in official totals.
  2. Only those fish caught on hook and line in the usual manner will be accepted.
  3. Each entrant is allowed one (1) line in the water at a time. Spare rods and equipment may be carried in the boat.
  4. Live bait and artificial bait and lures are allowed. Electronic or electric luring or attracting devices are prohibited.
  5. Any Walleye mangled, mashed or mauled will be weighed and credited at the discretion of the officials.
  6. Entrants will conduct themselves as true sports enthusiasts and gentlemen when fishing near another boat. There is no restricted area around another boat however no boat may touch another boat. No interference with another angler's line will be allowed.
  7. A contestant must not leave the boat to land a fish or untangle lines or lures.
  8. The 2011 tournament daily limits shall be 5 fish per team per day; 3 fish less than 21 1/2" and 2 fish over 21 1/2" or all 5 fish less than 21 1/2". Measurements are with PINCHED TAIL.
  9. All contestants must keep fish alive by means of a live well tub or other means. No more than 5 fish permitted in the live well at a time. Maximum amount of fish to be weighed in at any one time is 5. Therefore each team will have to weigh in at least 1 time during the day. Once a fish is weighed and recorded, no substitutions will be allowed - this rule applies to slot size fish and big fish. Any fish not able to be live-released will be penalized 20% of the weight of the dead fish.
  10. Stringers and ropes may not be used to confine fish caught.
4. Boats and Equipment
  1. All boats are required to meet Canadian regulations.
  2. All boats will be required to carry a provincial or state registration in accordance with the regulations of the home province or state of the contestant owning the boat.
  3. Boats may be equipped with electronic positioning or trolling motors.
  4. Electronic and electrical depth finders, thermometers, oxygen meters, etc., are allowed.
  5. Communications equipment allowed in boats for emergency use only.
  6. No underwater cameras allowed.
5. Tournament Boundaries
  1. Fishing will be permitted in the part of Last Mountain Lake identified on a map to be provided on acceptance of registration.
6. Weigh In
  1. The scale for weigh in will be open throughout the fishing day at 8 am.
  2. Each team will be responsible for their own catch. Under no circumstances may anyone other than the contestants handle or touch a fish until after it has been presented for weigh in.
  3. A team member must accompany the catch to the scale. Each team will receive a copy of their scale ticket each time they weigh in fish. The scale ticket must be initialed by a team member at this time.
  4. An unloading area will be designated immediately in front of the weigh in area and will be for unloading fish only.
7. Fishing Hours and Starting
  1. Start, finish and flight times will be provided at the pre-tournament meeting. In the event of a storm, the tournament will become a one-day event.
  2. Numbers must be clearly visible to reporting boat.
  3. Contestants who return late will have all the fish in their possession at the time disqualified.
  4. Boats will leave in flights accompanied by pace boats. The flights will be alternated each day.
8. Boat Identification and Patrolling
  1. All contestants' boats will be identified with a colored decal. Team numbers will be assigned when applicants are notified of their acceptance into the tournament.
  2. lf an emergency occurs, patrol boats will be available for aid. Patrol boat personnel will be clearly marked for easy identification. All boats will be allowed to land at headquarters only.
  3. Boats may be inspected before and during the tournament. Tournament officials will be checking boats at the launch area and patrol boats will be intensively patrolling the fishing areas. Any cheating will result in immediate disqualification, if protests are upheld.
9. Prize
  1. Prizes will be based on most weight (pounds) caught during the two days of the tournament.
  2. A prize for the largest Walleye will be announced.
  3. Prizes will be awarded on a team basis.
  4. In the case of a tie, prize money will be pooled and divided equally among the teams involved.
  5. Any angler found to be cheating will be disqualified and prosecuted to the extent permitted by law.
  6. Payoff of cash prizes is based on a 100 team field for a $10,000.00 1st. Prize.
10. Spirit of the Rule
  1. All rules have loopholes. It is the intention of the sponsor to provide an honest, sportsmanlike tournament. In the interest of good sportsmanship, contestants are reminded that "the spirit of the rule" will prevail in all judgment cases.
  1. Protests
  1. Any contestant has the right to make a protest against another contestant. A protest form is available from the tournament Chair. It should be filled out and presented to the Chair within one hour of the close of the fishing day.
  2. A special Protests Committee will convene for the purpose of determining action. Both parties and possible witnesses may be called before the Committee. The Committee will meet within three (3) hours of any protest being formally presented.
  3. A $150.00 protest fee will be required to accompany any formal protest. The fee is to be returned if the Protest Committee finds the protest valid. If invalid, the fee will not be refunded.
  4. The decision of the Protest Committee is final in all cases.
12. Miscellaneous
  1. All questions or problems relating to the rules of this tournament are to be referred to the Tournament Committee. Their decision will be final in all cases. No other person can be considered a representative for the rules during the tournament.
  2. If one of the two-team members drops out before the tournament, he/she may be replaced by the choice of the remaining team member. The Chair must be notified of the change before the tournament.
  3. If an entire team drops out before the tournament, the place will be filled by the tournament Chair and not by the choice of the team that dropped out. The entry fee will be refunded only if notice is given at least 14 days prior to the start of the tournament.
  4. Entry fee is $300.00 CAD. of which $10 goes to the Walleye Trail.
